Our Story

How it all started...

Having been birthed in the 1950’s, Abiding Life Baptist Fellowship began and operated for some 60 years as Central Baptist Church of Pasadena.  Their first building was completed in 1960 on Davis Street and saw further increased growth. The church, led by its pastor for many years, Dr. Jack Bridges, became a flagship for the Gospel locally and also birthing Central Missionary Clearinghouse which today services hundreds of missionaries and has processed millions of dollars for the cause of Christ worldwide.

After facing some precipitous decline with only a dozen or so attending in the early 2000’s, the church sold its property and buildings and relocated, refocusing on the stated mission “to lead all people to love, live and serve the Lord Jesus Christ – together.”  The church met in a storefront, and began to take on new life.  Now being stabilized the church grew again.  They relocated to their present property and facilities and within 2 years of the relocation became debt free.

The church began to support several missionary families, became a beacon of the Gospel in the community again and also actively providing assistance after hurricane Harvey, during the Covid period, the local elementary school, chamber of commerce and local non-profit organizations to battered women and struggling families.

Pastor Greg Barron & Family

Our journey began in 2019 in Costa Mesa, California, where Lisa and I (Greg) felt the call to ministry and received our training. As we moved back to Seabrook, Texas God prompted us to start a home church, but the pandemic paused our outreach efforts. During that time, Lisa volunteered at Anchor Point, counseling young women and working towards her biblical counseling certification.

This path led us to LifePoint Church, where Pastor Josh, Stephen, and Sabino recognized my calling to join the Houston Church Planting Network (HCPN). Although we envisioned planting a church in Seabrook with our three boys—Greg Jr., Ethan, and Joshua—God had different plans.

Recently, we experienced a significant pivot when we filled in for a Sunday service at Abiding Life Baptist Fellowship. We were surprised to learn that they were interested in welcoming the Barron family into their congregation. I am truly blessed to be part of this church community, where we have quickly become one family.

We invite you to join us on this exciting journey of faith and community! Together, we can make a difference and grow in our walk with God.

Expanding the vision...

You might wonder what sets us apart from other churches with similar mottos. We believe our difference begins with a strong foundation in prayer and God’s Word. Inspired by John 15:1-17, we strive to abide in Jesus through three key practices:

  • We Seek Truth by actively pursue a deeper relationship with God.
  • We Teach Truth by sharing biblical truths with one another.
  • We Live Truth by putting these truths into action in our daily lives.

Our heart for Jesus leads us to serve the community of Pasadena Texas. We are hoping to be examples of Jesus followers and impact our Lord and Savior as He commanded: THE GREAT COMMISIOM (Matthew 28:18-20)

Vision Potential...

Our vision is to thrive as part of the body of Christ, living out our faith at home, work, and in the community. To guide our growth, we focus on four important points:
  • Reclaim: What area do we need to strengthen?
  • Reinstitute: What practices are impacting our relationship with God?
  • Reborn: How can we live out our faith more fully?
  • Replace: How can we let biblical truths replace misconceptions in our lives?
If you’re eager to grow in your faith and learn how to disciple others, we warmly welcome you to join us. Together, let’s seek God first in all we do!
